Question 178175: Simplify (√y+3)(√y-5)
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Simplify (√y + 3)(√y - 5)
Use FOIL:
F: sqrt(y)*sqrt(y) = y
O: -5*sqrt(y) = -5sqrt(y)
I: +3*sqrt(y) = 3sqrt(y)
L: (3)*(-5) = -15
------------------------
Combine the results:
= y - 2sqrt(y) - 15
