If one of the solutions to a quadratic function is 1+isquare root of2, what is the b value in the quadratic polynomial.
:
x = 1 +
x - 1 =
Square both sides:
(x-1)^2 = 2(i^2)
:
x^2 - 2x + 1 = 2(-1)
x^2 - 2x + 1 = -2
x^2 - 2x +1 + 2 = 0
x^2 - 2x + 3 = 0 is the quadratic; b=-2
