x^2+sqrt(2)x=1/2
2x^2 + 2sqrt(2)x - 1 = 0
Use the quadratic formula to get:
x = [-2sqrt(2) +- sqrt(8-4*2*-1)]/4
x = [-2sqrt(2) +- sqrt(16)]/4
x = [-2sqrt(2) +- 4]/4
x = [-2sqrt(2)+4]/ or x = [-2sqrt(2) - 4]/4
