Question 146482: Rationalize the denominator and simplify.
3 / sqrt (x+5)
Three divided by sqrt of x plus five.
I started this problem by multiplying the denominator of Sqrt (x+5) by the numerator and the denominator. Not sure where to go after that..not even sure how to mutiply the sqrt and 3.
Thanks!

We basically want to get rid of all radical signs (the square root symbol) on the denominator.
.
Starting with:
3/sqrt(x+5)
multiply numerator and denominator by sqrt(x+5).
3/sqrt(x+5) * sqrt(x+5)/sqrt(x+5)
[3sqrt(x+5)]/(x+5)
.
That's it, you're done.
