Question 142304: Im having trouble with this one. The sqaure root of 12x^2y^3 - the sqaure root of 27x^4y. When I tried to solve it I got 2xy^2the square root of y minus 3x^2the sqaure root of y. It just doesnt seem right to me.

The sqaure root of 12x^2y^3 - the sqaure root of 27x^4y.
---------------
sqrt(12x^2y^3) - sqrt(27x^4y)
= sqrt(4x^2y^2 * 3y) - sqrt(9x^4 * 3y)
= 2xy sqrt(3y) - 4x^2 sqrt(3y)
Factor to get:
= (2xy - 4x^2)sqrt(3y)
