Question 135934: 3√24 +√54
Answer by nycsharkman(136) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
3√24 +√54
Break each radical separately.
√24 becomes √4 times √6.
==============================
√54 becomes √9 times √6
Since the square root of 4 and 9 are perfect squares, we can simply write the square root of 4 as 2 and the square root of 9 as 3.
We now have:
2√6 + 3√6....The goal here is to get the SAME radical, which in this case happens to be 6. See it?
We now simply add the numbers OUTSIDE the square root of 6 and we're done.
2√6 + 3√6 = 5√6
Is this clear?
