Find one of the solution of x= square root 3x-12 + 4
:
x = + 4
:
Subtract 4 from both sides:
x - 4 =
:
Square both sides:
(x-4)^2 = 3x - 12
:
FOIL the left side:
x^2 -8x + 16 = 3x - 12
:
Combine as a quadratic equation on the left
x^2 - 8x - 3x + 16 + 12 = 0
:
x^2 - 11x + 28 = 0
Factor:
(x-4)(x-7) = 0
Solutions
x = 4
x = 7
:
You can choose which solution you want.
