: Hi, If someone could please help me that would be great. I need to rationalize the denominator. It is a number 1 in the (numerator)over top of a square root of 7 minus a square root of 5 in the denominator. I came up with the answer of a square root of 7 + a square root of 5 in the numerator over top of a 2 in the denominator. Is this right. I couldn't figure out how to write out this problem on the computer.

rationalize the denominator. It is a number 1 in the (numerator)over top of a square root of 7 minus a square root of 5 in the denominator

1/(sqrt(7) - sqrt(5))
Multiply numerator and denominator by sqrt(7) + sqrt(5) to get:
= [sqrt(7) + sqrt(5)] / [7-5]
= [sqrt(7) + sqrt(5)]/2
