Combine only LIKE TERMS--that is, terms that have the same variables, in this case, inside the square roots.

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
4(rad)x+3(rad)xy+7(rad)xy-(rad)x
----------------
4sqrt(x) + 3sqrt(xy) + 7sqrt(xy)-sqrtx
= 3sqrt(x) + 10sqrt(xy)
