Question 117419: I seriously cannot figure this one out!! I don't know what I'm doing wrong! Simplify and rationalize the denominator Radical X^2+11 = 2radical 3X Does anyone else get it? Answer by ankor@dixie-net.com(22740) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! simplify and rationalize the denominator Radical X^2+11 = 2radical 3X
:
The way I see this problem is you don't have a denominator here, I see it as: and you can solve it
:
Square both sides and you have:
x^2 + 11 = 4(3x)
:
x^2 + 11 = 12x
:
x^2 - 12x + 11 = 0
:
Factors to:
(x-11)(x-1) = 0
:
x = +11, x = +1; and both solutions check out
