I know that the answer is x= -1/2 but i just don't know how you get it can you please help I have homework filled with many exponential equation problems but i don't get how it works my teacher taught it to us without the logarithmic equation way.

4^(x+2)=8
------------
(x+2)*log(4) = log(8)
x+2 = log(8)/log(4)

I would do it like this:
4^(x+2)=8
2^(2x+4) = 2^3
2x+4 = 3
x = -1/2
