Answer by Boreal(15235) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=(x-4)^2-4
This is moved down 4 and 4 units to the right, the vertex x value is what you get when you set x-4=0, or change the sign of -4 to +4. The y-value of the vertex is the constant without changing the sign.
(4,-4) is the vertex
Intercepts:
y intercept is when x=0, and that is (0,12)
x-intercept is when y=0, so (x-4)^2=4, x-4=+/-2; x=4+/-2, or (2, 0) and (6, 0)
Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
y=(x-4)^2-4
Already in standard form, so vertex is (4,-4) and if you set y=0 and solve for x, you find the x-axis intercepts; and leading coefficient positive, puts vertex as a minimum point.
