Square both sides to get:
(2x+1)+(x-3) + 2*sqrt[(2x+1)(x-3)] = 4
---------
sqrt[2x^2 -5x -3] = -3x+6
---------
Square both sides again to get:
2x^2-5x-3 = 9x^2 -36x + 36
----
7x^2 -31x + 39 = 0
b^2-4ac < 0
So, no Real Number solution.

x = 12,or x = 4, but these are EXTRANEOUS SOLUTIONS so
