Question 1031062: Hello tutors! Please help me with the question below :)
A cylindrical can of soup has a volume of 170 cubic inches. The radius of the soup is found using the formula r=√V/πh, where r is the radius, V is the volume of the can, and h is the height of the can.
a.) If the height of the can is 6 inches, find its radius to the nearest inch.
b.) If the radius of the can is 3 inches, find its height to the nearest inch.
Answer by josgarithmetic(39617) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
(a) You have the formula so you just make the substitution and evaluate.
(b) The skill is, "Solve for any variable in a formula".
The basic formula is , from which you can solve for h or solve for r. You are given one of them, as . Question #b asks for h when V and r are given. SOLVE THE FORMULA FOR h. You need Multiplicative Inverse Property and Multiplication Property of Equality.
