i assume you mean 3%5E%284x%2B5%29+=+9?

If so, then rewrite it as 3%5E%284x%2B5%29+=+3%5E2

now take the log of both sides, but a log to base-3, since log-base3 of 3^2 is 2 etc

4x+5 = 2
4x = -3
x = -3/4

check...
if x was -3/4, then the power becomes 4(-3/4) + 5 --> 2

so we end up with 3^2 = 9 which is correct.
