Question 206394: without writing the equation in standard form state whether the equation is a HYPERBOLA, PARABOLA, CIRCLE OR AN ELLIPSE 9y2+ 18y= 25x2+216
i am completely lost with this one and i really have no idea what it is i guess im having a brain fart. :/ but if i were to guess i would say that it is an ellipse.

Question 206846: Id have a question, did I understand/do this problem right?
Problem; What is the equation of the ellipse with foci at (0,-4) and (0,4) and the sum of its focal radii being 10?
My answer; 2a=10 a=5(sum of focal radii)
(0+0/2, 4+4/2)= (0,4)
c=4 b^2= a^2-c^2= 25-16=9
equation of the ellipse is;
(x-0)^2/25 + (y-4)^2/9=1
(Is this right?)

Question 216628: write the standard form of the equation of the circle that passes through the points at (4,5),(-2,3), and (-4,-3).
a)(x-5)^2 + (y+4)^2 = 49
b)(x-3)^2 + (y+2)^2 = 50
c)(x+4)^2 + (y-2)^2 = 36
d)(x-2)^2 + (y+2)^2 = 25

Question 220355: Please help me solve this equation:
Find the maximum or minimum value
f(x)= 3(x+10)(x-8)
I tried doing this..
x intercepts= -10 and 8, so (-10+8) /2= -1
But when I plugged -1 in for x and I came out with the minimum as -243, but that just seems to ridiculous as an answer..
