Find the standard equation of the following conic sections:
x^2-2x+3y-8=0
complete the square:
(x^2-2x+1)-1+3y-8=0
(x-1)^2=-3y+9
(x-1)^2=-3(y-3)
or
y=-(1/3)(x-1)^2+3 (vertex form)
This is an equation of a parabola that opens downwards with vertex at (1, 3)
