Answer by srinivas.g(540)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
latus rectum of an ellipse =
eccentricity =

move a to the right
2b^2 = 5a
divide with 2 on both sides

put above in eccentricity equation

eccentricity =

squaring on both sides

move 1 to the left

divide with 5 on both sides

2a =9
on dividing with 2 on both sides
a = 9/2
but
=
=
