How can you prove that a point (x, y) is not located on a line of a given equation
First substitute the value of x and y in the given equation , if the right hand side is equal to the left hand side then the point lies on the given equation.

Let me give you an example:- To show that the point (1,2) lies on the line of the equation 4x+2 = 3y
L.H.S = 4x+2 = 4(1)+2 = 4+2 = 6
R.H.S = 3y = 3(2) = 6 since L.H.S = R.H.S the point is said to lie on the given equation.
