Place in standard form and graph
x^2+2x-4y^2+24y+10=0
complete the square:
(x^2+2x+1)-4(y^2-6y+9)=-10+1-36
(x+1)^2-4(y-3)^2=-45
4(y-3)^2-(x+1)^2=45

This is an equation of a hyperbola with vertical transverse axis and center at (-1,3)
See graph below:
y=((45+(x+2)^2)^.5)/2+3
