what are the steps for sketching hyperbola
1.Find coordinates of center.
2.Find end points of vertices (vertical or horizontal transverse axis)
3.find end points of conjugate axis.
4.Draw a rectangle with end points of 2nd and 3rd steps.
5.Draw lines thru corners of rectangle. These two lines are the asymptotes which also go thru the center.
6.Finally, sketch the curve between the asymptotes and thru both vertices.
..
Standard form of equation for a hyperbola with horizontal transverse axis:
, (h,k)=(x,y) coordinates of center.
..
Standard form of equation for a hyperbola with vertical transverse axis:
, (h,k)=(x,y) coordinates of center.
length of transverse axis=2a
length of conjugate axis=2b
