Solution:
Since we have y = x^2 - 4x + 3
and y = 2x - 2
since both are equal to same thing (y) , hence they are equal to each other , means LHS are equal, hence RHS must be equal.
x^2 - 4x + 3 = 2x - 2
x^2 - 4x + 3 - 2x + 2 = 0
x^2 - 6x + 5 = 0
x ^2 - 5x - 1x + 5 = 0
x( x - 5 ) -1 ( x - 5 ) = 0
( x - 1 )( x - 1 ) = 0
hence x = 5 and x = 1
