Assuming standard form of equation: (x-h)^2=4p(y-k), (h,k) being the (x,y) coordinates of the vertex.
Focal diameter also known as the focal width=4p
The focus is p units from the vertex on the axis of symmetry on the inside of the parabola.
The directrix is also p units from the vertex on the axis of symmetry but on the outside of the parabola.
