It appears that the foal is gaining 60 lbs every 4 wks (since 160 - 100 = 60 and 220 - 160 = 60)

So the rate of growth is (60 pounds)/(4 weeks) = 15 pounds per week

In other words, when one week passes, the foal will gain 15 pounds.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

So if the rate is 15 lbs/wk, then in 2 weeks, the foal will gain 15*2 = 30 lbs.

In 3 weeks, the foal will gain 15*3 = 45 lbs.

etc.

So in 14 weeks, the foal will gain 15*14 = 210 pounds.

Add this to the original weight of 100 pounds to get

100 pounds + 210 pounds = 310 pounds

So in 14 weeks, the foal will weigh 310 pounds.

Note: this growth can't continue forever, so there is a cutoff point. However, we're well below it.

Answer by pedjajov(51)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Difference in weight after first 4 weeks is 160-100 = 60lb.
Difference in weight after second 4 weeks is 220-160 = 60lb.
:
The rate of increase is 60 pounds in 4 weeks.
:
So its weight is increased per week as
:
(total increase in 4 weeks)/4 weeks = 60/4 = 15 pounds per week
:
So if it continues with the same rate then after 6 additional weeks it should weigh
:
220+6*15=220+90=310 pounds.
