Standard Form of an Equation of an Hyperbola opening right and left is  

             

where Pt(h,k) is a center  with vertices 'a' units right and left of center.

 vertices at (-2,0) and (2,0), focus at (4,0)  Center( 0,0)

           f = 4 =   b^2 = 12
