Question 388476: Graph the parabola:
Y=(x+1)^2-1
To graph the parabola, plot the vertex and four additional points, two on each side of the vertex, and then click on the graph icon.
It says I need 5 Points
I have the vertex as (-1,-1)
and two other points of (-2,0) and (0,0) I can't figure the other two points any help would be greatly appreciated.
Answer by nerdybill(7384) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
For the other two, simply "pick" values of x that would be "easy" to calculate such as:
x=1
Y=(1+1)^2-1
Y=(2)^2-1
Y=4-1
Y=3
another point then is at (1,3)
and
x=-3
Y=(-3+1)^2-1
Y=(-2)^2-1
Y=4-1
Y=3
another point then is at (-3,3)
