complete the square
(x^2+2x+1) -8y = -25+1
(x+1)^2-8y=-24
8y=(x+1)^2+24
÷ both sides by 8
y=(1/8)*(x+1)^2+3
This is a parabola that opens upward with vertex at (-1,3)
