Question 324548: 25(x+5)^2 + 4(y-3)^2 = 100
axis to which the major axis is parallel and the center.
I think it may be
x and -5, 3
but i am not sure if i did this correctly
i would appreciate your help

Answer by stanbon(75887)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
25(x+5)^2 + 4(y-3)^2 = 100
Divide thru by 100 to get:
(x+5)^2/4 + (y-3)^2/25 = 1
-----
The center is (-5,3)
But the major axis has length 2a = 10
and is parallel to the y-axis.

Plot the vertices and you will see that.
