Question 316558: In my homework, I am asked to graph a hyperbola by first identifying the x-intercepts, the extent, and the asymptotes. I understand what the x-intercepts and asymptotes are, but what is the extent? I have looked all through my textbook, other textbooks, and online and I cannot figure out what is meant by "extent."

Both branches of your hyperbola have infinite extent...the ends of the two curves go on forever.
