Question 30997: i have this problem x squared over 49 plus y squared over 121 equals 1. how do i find out if this problem is a ellipse parabola or a hyperbola? what is the answer?
Answer by longjonsilver(2297) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
the standard forms for each type of conic are as follows:
parabola: --> you have y and
ellipse:
hyperbola:
Ellipse and hyperbola are very similar in their standard form: differing only in the sign of the y-term.
Your equation is of the ellipse form.
