Question 1165485: Mars orbits the sun in an elliptical path whose distance from the sun is 140 million miles. Suppose the sun represents one focus of the ellipse.
a. draw the sun, mars, mar's orbit on a cartesian plane where each unit is 10 million miles.

If the orbit is a real ellipse,  different from a circle,  then the distance from the focus to the point at the ellipse
VARIES  and has a  VARIABLE  magnitude.

If the distance from the point to the orbiting object has a constant value,  then the orbit is a circle.

So,  you,  the author,  learn the terms first,  BEFORE  trying to create  (to compose)  your own  Math problem,  and use then the terms properly.
