Focus(-5,-4) and directrix x =3.
I think what I mostly need help with is finding the vertex so I can use that info to find the equation. I'm not sure I understand how to find the vertex. Thank you.

If the directrix is , then you learn that the parabola opens to the left.
The distance from the focus to vertex is equal to the distance from vertex to directrix.
The y coordinate of the vertex is equal to the y coordinate of the focus.
