Question 997647: on a right triangle, one leg is two more than twice the other. the hypotenuse is one more than the longer leg. find the sides

Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
shortest leg = x

x^2 + (2x + 2)^2 = (2x + 3)^2
3x^2 + 8x + 4 = 4x^2 + 12x + 9

x = -1 or 5

Distance can't be negative, so the side lengths are 5, 12, and 13.
