Let S=side of lot=50 m
Let d=short cut(diagonal of lot)=
d=70.7 m Shortcut is 70.7 m
to walk around is 50m+50m=100m (two sides of lot)
Distance saved is 100m-70.7m=29.3 meters
ANSWER The distance saved by cutting diagonally across the corner lot is 29.3 meters
