Question 70512: in my math class we are supposed to figure out a shorter distance betwen two places in our house using the Pythagorean Theorem.
1) you must decide on two destinations in your house where you must walk from one room to another. These rooms cannont be straight across from each other for the project to be applicable
2)you must draw a neat diagram of this path, showing which way you would walk
3)you must measure the distance walked from one to the other.
4) finally, you must use the Pythagorean Theorem to figure out how far it would be to walk straight from one room to the other without walls.
I measured the distance betwen my two rooms. one way was 19.1 ft. down a hallway then you go left 12.4 ft. and your into the next room. I need help figuring out how to use the Pythagorean Theorem to find out what the
measurments would be if you would just go straight???? please help me the project is due tomarrow
Thank you
Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
one way was 19.1 ft. down a hallway then you go left 12.4 ft.
distance^2 = 19.1^2 + 12.4^2
d = sqrt(518.57)
d = 22.77 ft.
