if the radius of the tire is 16 inches, then the circumference of the tire is equal to 2 * pi * 16 = 100.5309649 inches.

the circumference of the tire is equal to 1 revolution of the tire.

the number of revolutions of the tire would be equal to 50000 * 63360 / 100.5309649 inches.

that comes out to be equal to 31,512,678.73 revolutions of the tire.

that's 31 million 512 thousand 678.73 revolutions.

to work you way back up the chain, do the following.

31,512,678.73 revolutions times 100.5309649 inches per revolution equals a total of 3168000000 total inches of travel.

divide that by 63360 inches per mile and you get 50000 miles.
