10^2+24^2=x^2
676=x^2
26=x

I assume you mean a^2 + b^2 = c^2
for a = 10, b = 24, there is a factor of 2 which will factorize out
so a = 2 x 5 b = 2 x 12, which is the base of the Pythagorean triple 5,12,13
so c = 2 x 13 = 26
Or else
a^2 = 100
b^2 = 576
c^2 is therefore 676
so sq rt of 676 is 26
c = 26
