Well it is possible to factor and solve this equation. First we can divide both sides by 3 and we will get:

0 = x^2+4x-45

now we need to think of numbers that multiply to -45 and add to 5. -5 and 9 work so the equation factors to:

0 = (x-5)(x+9)

and to solve the equation we use the zero product property and set each factor to 0 and you will get that x = 5 and x = -9.
