Question 186552: Consecutive bases of a square-shaped baseball diamond are 90 feet apart. Find the exact distance from first base diagonally across the diamond to third base. Then approximate this distance.
So far I tried:
90 squared + 90 squared = c squared
8100 + 8100 = c squared
16200 = c squared
when taken by the square root I get
9 square root of 2 = c
approximate distance is 34 feet

Answer by checkley77(12844) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
90^2+90^2=x^2
8100+8100=x^2
x^2=16,200
x=sqrt16,200
x=127.28 ft. is the distance between first & third base.
