Question 17137: Ms. Green tells you that a right triangle has a hypotenuse of 13 and a leg of 5. She asks you to find the other leg of the triangle without using paper and pencil. What is your answer?

you have to use pythogarus theorem ,if you have to find the answer analytically without drawing the triangle.the theorem states that in a right angled triangle sum of squares of 2 legs of the right angle is equal to the square of hypotenuse.here hypotenuse is 13 whose square is 169.one leg is 5 whose square is 25.so the square of other leg is 169-25 =144.its square root is 12 .so the second leg is 12.
