Question 1106179: I am trying to use the pythagorean theorem on right triangles. We are supposed to do the theorem and end up with an answer in the format so it’s not a decimal (xsquare root sign y). I tried this problem and ended up with 277, and when trying to reduce it, failed. The triangle has a leg (9) and another leg (14). I did a^2 + b^2 =c^2 and just couldn’t get it. Please help!

Step 1. c^2 = a^2 + b^2 = 9^2 + 14^2 = 81 + 196 = 277.

Step 2. c = .

Answer.   c = .
