The triangle formed by the fence, the portion of the pipe between the fence and the ground and the ground between the fence and the end of the pipe touching the ground is a 3-4-5 right triangle.

Hypotenuse is the part of pipe 'below' the top of the fence.

It is very easy.

The part of the pipe from the ground to the fence is the hypotenuse of the right angled triangle with the legs 3 and 4 meters.


Hence, the hypotenuse is  =  =  = 5 m long.


The rest of the pipe 10m - 5 m = 5m is over the fence.

Answer. The part of the pipe of 5 m long is over the fence.
