Grass growth on a sunny day in July is equal to .5 inches a day.
Grass growth on a cloudy day in July is equal to .25 inches a day.
75% of the days are sunny and 25% are cloudy in July in Seattle.
The typical day in Seattle in July would be .5 * 75% + .25 * 25% = .4375 inches of growth per day.
Since July has 31 days, then the expected amount of grass growth in July in Seattle would be 31 * .4375 = 13.5625 inches of growth.
If we assume 75% sunny days and 25% cloudy days, the ammount of days would be 23.25 sunny days and 7.75 cloudy days on the average.
23.25 * .5 = 11.625 inches of growth on the sunny days.
7.75 * .25 = 1.9375 inches of growth on the cloudy days.
total = 13.5625 inches of growth overall.
