Question 1050042: how to proof 8x - 12y = 14 has no integral solution in x and y
Answer by Edwin McCravy(20083)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!

8x - 12y = 14

Divide through by 2:

4x - 6y = 7

4x and 6y are both divisible by 2.
The sum, difference, and product of any
two even numbers is always even.

Therefore it is impossible to subtract
an even number 6y from another even
number 4x and get the odd number 7.
