Question 992646: The sum of two integers is 368, and the larger number is 13 more than 4 times the smaller number. Find the two integers.
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x = larger number
y = smaller number

x + y = 368
x = 4y + 13

Substitute the second equation back into the first.

(4y + 13) + y = 368
5y + 13 = 368
5y = 355
y = 71

The integers are x = 297 and y = 71.
