Question 976582: the sum of two numbers is 24. twice the smaller number plus three times the larger number is 62. find the numbers
Answer by Boreal(15235)   (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x+y=24
2x+3y=62 ;;let x be smaller number
-2x-2y=-48 multiply first by (-2)
2x+3y=62
y=14
x=10
twice x is 20
3 times y =42 They sum to 62, and the two themselves sum to 24.
