Question 954838: One integer is 5 greater than another integer. The larger integer is also 35 greater than the opposite of the smaller integer. What are the two integers?
Answer by macston(5194) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
L=larger integer; S=smaller integer=L-5
L-35=-S Substitute for S
L-35=-(L-5)
L-35=-L+5 Add L+35 to each side
2L=40 Divide each side by 2.
L=20 ANSWER 1: The larger integer is 20.
S=L-5=20-5=15 ANSWER 2: the smaller integer is 15.
