First integer=x; second integer=x+1; third integer=x+2; fourth integer=x+3
(x)+(x+1)+(x+2)+(x+3)=26
4x+6=26 Subtract 6 from each side.
4x=20 Divide each side by 4.
x=5 ANSWER 1: The first integer is 5.
x+1=5+1=6 ANSWER 2: The second integer is 6.
x+2=5+2=7 ANSWER 3: The third integer is 7.
x+3=5+3=8 ANSWER 4: The fourth integer is 8.
CHECK:
Sum is 26.
5+6+7+8=26
26=26
