Each person will have a gift for everyone except him or herself
Therefore, each person will have a certain number of gifts, less one, since he/she would not be giving himself/herself a gift
Thus, the number of people, times the number of people, less one, equals the number of gifts.
In mathematical terminology, and with the number of people present, being P, this is written as:
P(P – 1) = 30

(P - 6)(P + 5) = 0
P, or number of people present =
You can do the check!!
