Question 899228: Find two consecutive odd integers whose product is 1 less than 6 times their sum
Answer by CubeyThePenguin(3113) (Show Source): You can put this solution on YOUR website!
consecutive odd integers: x, (x+2)
x(x+2) = 6(x + (x+2)) - 1
x^2 + 2x = 6(2x+2) - 1
x^2 + 2x = 12x + 11
x^2 - 10x - 11 = 0
(x - 11)(x + 1) = 0
The integers are -1 and 1 or 11 and 13.
